I graduated with a B.S. in chemistry from CMSU in 1988 and then got married and began graduate school at the University of Kansas in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Unfortunately, my marriage ended in 1994, however, I graduated that same year with my Ph.D. and went on to a postdoctoral position at the University of Washington in Seattle. I spent two and a half rainy years in Seattle, then obtained a position as a Senior Scientist at Eli Lilly & Company in Indianapolis. Shortly thereafter, I met Richard Byrd, also a scientist at Lilly. It turned out that he was a Harley Davidson biker, in addition to being a reproductive toxicologist. Being drawn to the rebellious type, I quickly fell for him. We got married just over a year ago, and celebrated our 1-year anniversary by taking a Harley trip to West Virginia. Now happily married, we have two dogs, two cats, and are hoping a little one (human) will be on its way to us soon.

UPDATE: (As of 1/21,2004) Well, time certainly has a way of changing things, doesn't it? Or is it only my life that is incredibly unstable? I am now working on husband #3. Poor Jim. A few months into our relationship, I said to him, "Well Honey, I've taken a different husband to each of my high school reunions. My 20th reunion is coming up next summer. Would you like to go?" I suppose that could have been construed as a marriage proposal, however, Jim proposed to me on his own in September of last year. We are planning on getting married this May. My previous husband, Richard, announced that he was pretty much done with our relationship one Wednesday morning in April of 2002. This was just a few months before we were scheduled to travel to China to adopt a baby girl. Needless to say, that was quite a shock and resulted in my decision to have my mid-life crisis early. This turned out to be a good thing, because it helped me realize that I hated my job and needed to do something to change it. I realized that I loved to write and decided to take a step toward pursuing a career in writing. As a result, I am now a medical writer, still employed by Eli Lilly & Company. I have also been working on writing outside of work and have succeeded in getting an article published in Branches, a local magazine. My personal story has an even happier ending because I am also going to get to be a mom! My fiance, Jim Bacon, has a nine-year-old son, Travis, who is breaking me in to the whole MOM thing. I can now state with confidence the characters' names on Sponge Bob Square Pants!
