UPDATE: 6/11/07 - We have contacted our our equipment manufacturer and per their suggestion have ordered a replacement antenna which is expected to improve this situation. While we are extremely hopeful of the outcome, we will not know the true effects of this equipment change until it happens. The intermittent outages & slower speeds caused by this problem may continue for a few more days while we implement the network changes suggested by our equipment manufacturers. UPDATE: 6/19/07, Our Network Operations Center has received some additional equipment which was purchased at the suggestion of our equipment manufacturer. The intent is to replace a potentially faulty antenna with a new one with the hope that this is root cause of the reported problems. This is not a guaranteed solution, however, and thorough testing will need to be conducted once the new equipment is in place. This work may still be causing intermittent connectivity problems for wireless customers during daytime hours, as much of this work needs to be conducted when it is safe to climb our towers, as well as meet the working hours of the engineers who are assisting us.

These outages tend to coincide with our busiest times on the network in the evening and on weekends, but have also occurred during the day throughout the week. Our Network Operations Center is in the process of correcting this situation on multiple levels. One immediate solution is to turn up a second access point on the West side of Sedalia. We are making arrangements to do this work immediately. During this process, wireless customers may continue to see the outages on their service.
08-10-06 09:45am Another brief occurence of lightning came through the Sedalia area which caused some interference on one of I-Land's access points. This may have caused an outage for some wireless customers and hindered Internet access while the bad weather passed through. 08-10-06 10:45am
