Introduction:
While this does not cover every mail client in circulation, this document includes instructions on how to set up the
most
commonly
used email clients for the sending and receiving of email. Please read the section "POP and SMTP
Configuration in
Email Clients" then proceed to the mail client instruction that you need to configure.
POP and SMTP Configuration in Email Clients
If you are a mail program such as Outlook Express, Netscape Mail, Eudora Mail etc., you will need to insure that POP and SMTP server settings reflect the following:
- Account or User Name: if your username is "johndoe" and the domain is "iland.net", then in the instructions below,
wherever it says Account Name use the following: johndoe@iland.net
- Incoming/POP Server: in the instructions below, wherever it says “POP Server” or “Incoming Mail Server”, use
the following: pop.iland.net
- Outgoing/SMTP Server: In the instructions below, wherever it says “SMTP Server” or “Outgoing Mail Server”,
use the following: smtp.iland.net
- Incoming mail sever POP3 should be port 110, Outgoing mail sever SMTP should be port 587
