The Friends of Arrow Rock present Dr. Joan Stack, Curator, State Historical Society of Missouri,on the topic of "Towards an 'Emancipationist Vision' of General Order No. 11: The Interpretive History of George Caleb Bingham's Great Civil War Painting." Many interpretations of the image are rebel-centered and anti-Union. Dr. Stack proposes a fresh interpretation based on an "emancipationist vision." They are free to the public and funded by an endowment made possible by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
